Overview

The affordable, laboratory grade model BK8502B Programmable DC Electronic Load, from BK Precision, is well suited for testing and evaluating a wide variety of DC power sources. This DC electronic load can operate in CC, CV, CR or CP mode while voltage/current or resistance/power values are measured and displayed in real time and is fully programmable via RS232 or USB interface. Extensive protection, including over temperature, over power, over voltage, over current and reverse polarity will help protect your valuable prototype. Its flexible operating modes and excellent measurement accuracy make this DC electronic load a great choice for characterizing DC Power supplies, DC-DC Converters, batteries, fuel cells and solar cells.

Features of the BK8502B

  • Operates between 0-500 VDC (suitable for high voltage applications), 1 mA-15 A, 300 W max
  • Constant current (CC), resistance (CR), voltage (CV) and power (CP) operation
  • Transient mode up to 10 kHz in CC mode
  • 16-bit voltage and current measurement system with up to 0.1 mV / 0.1 mA resolution
  • List mode and adjustable slew rate in CC mode
  • Short circuit test
  • Built-in high resolution (0.1 mA/1 mV) voltage and current measurement (range dependent)
  • Bright, easy to read display (VFD technology)
  • TTL (DB9) interface, includes TTL to USB adapter
  • List mode operation for increased throughput
  • Built-in battery test function with voltage level, capacity level, and timer stop conditions
  • CR-LED mode to simulate the loading behavior of typical LEDs
  • Flexible triggering: Create trigger events by front panel keystroke, back panel TTL signal or software
  • Connect multiple units in parallel to increase current rating
  • Remote voltage sensing to compensate for the effect of voltage drop in wires
  • OVP/OCP/OPP/OTP and local/remote reverse voltage (LRV/RRV) protection
